Michael Lakeman has a wealth of experience in the commercialization of deep- and clean-technologies, having spent the last decade and a half working globally on the decarbonization of aviation and livestock agriculture, two of the most challenging sectors to address from a climate impact perspective. As a so-called Scientist-in-a-Suit, he straddles the line between the technical and commercial worlds, easing the path to markets for sustainability-oriented innovations. With an academic background in algal research, he has spent the last four years focused on the power of seaweed to transform humanity’s relationship with the planet. He is currently Principal and founder of Rock Stack, a boutique advisory and fractional executive firm, serving the clean-tech sector in Aotearoa and beyond.
