David is Executive Director – Healthcare, Research at E&P Financial Group, where he leads equity research coverage of ASX-listed biotechnology companies. His team’s work spans medical devices, therapeutics, and emerging biotech, connecting institutional investors with the science and commercial strategy behind some of Australia’s most innovative life sciences companies.

David brings a combination of deep scientific expertise and capital markets experience. Prior to joining E&P, he spent two decades in biomedical research and development, specialising in implantable medical devices and preclinical safety studies. He led the safety program for the Australian ‘Bionic Eye,’ work that paved the way for two successful clinical trials. Funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council with in-kind support from Cochlear, he also led a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, surgeons, and engineers in developing a novel implant to prevent certain forms of blindness, progressing it towards clinical trials and commercialisation.

David holds patents relating to retinal prostheses and has a strong publication record in international peer-reviewed journals. A former astronaut candidate finalist with the European Space Agency, he was invited to serve on Australia’s inaugural Space Industry Innovation Council, helping shape the country’s first civil space policy.

David holds a Bachelor of Science and Electrical Engineering (Honours) and a PhD in Auditory Neuroscience from the University of Melbourne, and completed an MBA at the Melbourne Business School. He maintains appointments as a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Eye Research Australia, with honorary clinical research positions at The University of Melbourne and The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. He is a professional member of IEEE, RANZCO, ARVO, and the Society for Neuroscience.
