Programme Highlight: Dr Kate Rubins

NASA astronaut and renowned scientist Dr. Kate Rubins will open Day Two of the Summit with her keynote:“The Convergence of Biology and Technology Powering Scientific Breakthroughs.”

Dr. Rubins has had an extraordinary career at the intersection of science and space exploration. Highlights include:

  • First to Sequence DNA in Space: A pioneering feat completed aboard the International Space Station.
  • 300 Days in Space: Across two missions, Dr. Rubins contributed to groundbreaking research as a flight engineer and conducted four spacewalks.
  • Accomplished Scientist: Holding a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from Stanford University, she led research on viral diseases affecting Central and West Africa and conducted HIV-1 studies at the Salk Institute.

Her keynote will showcase how biology and technology are shaping the future, offering unique insights from her work both on Earth and in orbit.
