Matthew Cossey

Chief Executive Officer, CropLife Australia

Matthew Cossey commenced as Chief Executive Officer of CropLife Australia in 2011.

Prior to joining CropLife, Matthew served as a senior executive member of the Australian Leadership Team for one of the world’s leading defence and military technology companies, Raytheon.

Before entering the private sector, Matthew was Secretary General and campaign director for one of Australia’s major political parties in Canberra, a position he held for more than six years. He was Chief of Staff and Senior Defence Adviser to the then Shadow Minister for Defence from 1998 to 2002. and before that worked as a senior political adviser for three years.

Matthew worked in several positions in the Commonwealth public service in both Canberra and Sydney prior to taking up his positions at Parliament House.

Matthew was the architect, and previously served as a director, of the Agricultural Biotechnology Council of Australia, and he remains a member of the Council’s Executive. He also previously served on the Board of Directors of AFL Canberra for four years and the CLC Group for seven years.

Matthew undertook his Bachelor of Arts/Law studies in Sydney and is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
